Baby Davis

A LOT has happened since I last blogged! I will try to start from the beginning! As you all know, we really liked our doctor a lot! Dr. Cooley has been my doctor since we moved here, she took care of us during our difficult time last year, when we had a miscarriage, and she has been wonderful during this pregnancy. So we were very shocked and upset when we found out two weeks ago that Dr. Cooley cleaned out her office and moved out of the state over the weekend....without any notice to many of her employees or any of her patients! A friend at work called me and asked if I had heard and I was stunned when she told me. Here is the link to the article that was published in the local newspaper. This is pretty much how everyone found out!!

http://www.nwfdailynews.com/articles/fort-41176-notice-office.html

So needless to say we were on the search for a new doctor! We had visited Dr. Graham at Sacred Heart in Miramar Beach last year and several our friends and friends friends used Dr. Graham and loved her and the entire Sacred Heart experience! So we didn't really have to search too far to decide that we would transfer to her. I explained to them the situation (which they already knew about) and told them that Dr. Cooley wanted to see me 3 weeks from my last appointment instead of 4 weeks due to the Placenta Previa. They squeezed me in on the exact day I was supposed to go back for my 3 week check up! After days and days of trying to get my medical records from Dr. Cooley's office I finally got them 1 day before my scheduled appointment with Dr. Graham! As sad as we were about the entire Dr. Cooley situation, we were eager (and nervous) to visit with Dr. Graham. Once we were at our appointment we really liked the atmosphere and all of the staff!! The ultrasound tech did an anatomy scan on our little boy and everything was perfect!!!! His brain has developed beautifully, he had all of his hands, arms, legs, fingers, toes, kidneys, eyes, lips, ears, etc! She said he looked perfect! I signed up for a weekly update on my pregnancy from babycenter.com and at 19 weeks the "average" baby weighs about 8 ozs! Not our baby though....he weighed 12 ozs at my 18.5 week check up!!!! This is going to be one BIG BOY!! He has weighed more than the "norm" since day 1!!!  He also has some super long legs! He gets that from his daddy!! Dr. Graham also told me that my placenta has moved to where it needs to be (No more Placenta Previa)!! Praise God! She said I wasn't on light duty anymore and I could resume all of my normal activities!!! He was flipping around doing cartwheels! Chase asked me if I drank some caffeine that morning and I told him all I had drank was water!! Here are the pictures from our 18.5 week check up!

It's still a boy! If you look to the left, you can see
his little butt and his legs coming out towards the right.

So we decided on our little boys name. He will be known as Colt Evans Davis!! Colt is a favorite of Chase's and Evans is Chase's middle name and several generations of middle names in the Davis family. We finally got a waiting list for daycare and started looking for nursery furniture and bedding! November 25 is getting closer and closer!! Dr. Graham did say "So you are due at Thanksgiving, you want to have the baby before Thanksgiving, right". We just told her that was fine as long as we had him before the Auburn/Alabama game we didn't care!!

Here are a couple of pictures of me last night at 19.3 weeks pregnant and one of me and Chase!! We are 1/2 way there!! YAY! I have finally started to enjoy my pregnancy more! Sometimes I forget that I am pregnant until I look down! I have started to feel him moving around. I don't really feel "kicks", but I feel what I would compare to a wave!! At first, a few weeks ago, it felt more like a small thump, but now I will get "waves" of movement every now and then! I can't wait until Chase can feel him kicking!!

My next doctor's appointment is July 29 and I will have my diabetes test that day! Wish me luck! Thank you all so much for your continued support and prayers! We are doing great and are so excited to welcome Colt in November!! :)'

Boy or Girl!?!??!

Before I tell y'all the answer to the BIG question I will give y'all an update! At my last appointment, Dr. Cooley told me to drink or eat something with a lot of caffeine and sugar so that the baby would be active and we could hopefully see what the gender was! When we got to our appointment the ultrasound tech said that she may not be able to tell the gender, but if she could did we want to know. "YES!!!", we said! So she did her measuring and the baby was moving around so much, like a little jumping bean, I guess it was from the Mountain Dew I drank 30 minutes earlier! It was so amazing and different compared to the last ultrasound we had! There was now an actual physical body and we could really make out all of the features! Amazing is the only word that comes to mind! I could see some movement out of the corner of my eyes and I looked over and Chase was fanning himself! I asked him if he was okay and he said he was just hot! When we got out of the ultrasound room he was dripping sweat!! He said he is blaming the antibiotics he is on!! Once she told us the gender he said he was fine though! Delivery should be interesting! Here are some of our ultrasound pictures!

Head to the right, body to the left and you can see the little feet!

Our baby!

OKAY, OKAY, OKAY......IT'S A BOY!!!! We are so unbelievably excited words can not express!!!
Below are the pictures to confirm! The arrows are pointing to his "boy parts" and the two things spread open are his legs and his butt in the air! So cute!

So when we saw Dr. Cooley at our appointment today she said "It's definitely a boy"! She also told us that I have what they call placenta previa. It is actually quite common and occurs in 1 out of every 200 pregnancies. Basically what she told us is that the placenta is currently covering the cervix. What this means is that if I happen to go into labor and have contractions, the placenta would be delivered first, however it is supposed to be delivered after the baby. So she said that I am not to do any kind of heavy lifting or exercise. Pretty much I need to take it easy. Years ago they would put women on bed rest because of this. Since ultrasounds are so high tech now she said that is not necessary. Best case scenario is that as my uterus grows and as the baby gets bigger the placenta will stretch up and eventually not be covering my cervix any more. Worst case scenario she would deliver the baby early at about 34-36 weeks by c-section. I go back for an ultrasound in 3 weeks and we pray that there has been some growth and movement! The bright side is that I will get an ultrasound and we will get to see our little man at every appointment!!

15 1/2 weeks...starting to show a little! I can see and feel it for sure!

We also received our first little boy gift today from our friends Jamie and Alisha! So cute!

It is starting to feel a little more "real" now that I am beginning to show and now that we know the gender of our little man! I can not wait to start decorating the nursery and getting everything together! First we have to get on a daycare list! AH!
Please continue to pray for our sweet little boy and for a continued healthy pregnancy!

"Hearts Apart" Fishing Rodeo

Skyler, Chase and Bryce

Memorial Day weekend we went with some friends to a military family fishing rodeo. The "rodeo" was put on by a military group for families who have deployed spouses. Our friend Lori's husband Den is currently deployed and so is our friend Sharri's husband, Steve...not much longer though, Steve gets to reunite with his family later this week after 15 months of being deployed! So Chase was filling in the role as father figure for Steve and Sharri's son Skyler and for Den and Lori's boys, Bryce and Blake. We had a really great time catching fish and just enjoying the beautiful day! Our "team" caught 13 fish, which was the most, AND we also won first prize for the biggest fish caught...I think he was 12 lbs and 11 ozs?!? We left all the fish unattended, on the stringer, in the water so we could go eat and so that the boys could go get their prize for the biggest fish. Skyler walked back down to the water to check on the fish and they were gone!! Somehow they had squirmed their way loose, but luckily were all still on the stringer a few feet away in the water. Chase hooked the stringer and pulled them back in! Whew! We also saw a BIG snake swimming right at the water where we were fishing!! We had such a great time! I have posted some pictures to share!!

Boy or Girl

...well, we will find out in 3 weeks 5 days on June 8 (26 days to be exact!!) We can not wait to find out if our baby will be a boy or girl! Of course we will be extatic either way!! We had a great doctor's visit on Wednesday. We heard the heart beat again, this time through the Doppler and it was still very strong!!  I had gained 4 pounds since our last visit and Dr. Cooley was pretty impressed by that since most women don't gain much weight in the first trimester because of nausea and morning sickness. I have still had some nausea throughout the day! I wish I could say the nausea and the tiredness has decreased, but I can't!! Hopefully in the next few weeks it will! I will be in my second trimester next Friday and I can't wait!

Last week was our 4 year anniversary and went out to eat at Ruth's Chris steakhouse! It was delicious, but Chase's steaks are MUCH better in my opinion! That was also the first day Chase said "Oh look at your baby bump"! So, I have been noticing for several weeks that my waist and stomach have been increasing in size, I guess it just hasn't been too obvious to everyone else! I showed my mom and Wendy when we went home last weekend and they were in awe too! So, here is a picture of me at 11 weeks (1 week ago)!

Last weekend we went home for Mother's Day and also to attend a friend's wedding. It was a special Mother's Day for me because I got to spend it with my mom of course, but also because it was my first semi-Mother's Day as a Mom-To-Be! I can't wait until next year when our precious little one is here for Mother's Day! Below is a picture of me and 3 of my best friends in the world at Laura's wedding...Wendy, Nicole and Lacy!

Everyone check back on June 8th, at the latest, to find out if baby Davis is a boy or girl!!!

Much Love,

Chase and Kim

Turkey In The Oven...Literally! :)

Well as many or most of you have heard by now, WE ARE EXPECTING!!! I am 9 weeks and we have known for several weeks but only told our parents until we got to hear the heart beat, which we heard last week! The heart beat was the most amazing thing we have ever heard. Our first appointment was at 8 weeks. We were both extremely nervous and anxious going into the doctor's office last week for the ultrasound. However once we got in the ultrasound room and heard the baby's little heart beating so fast we were so excited. It was very overwhelming and we both got teary eyed. We were not fortunate enough to hear a heart beat or even see this much on an ultrasound when we had our miscarriage last year, so this was definitely an unforgettable experience. The heart beat was very strong at 179 beats per minute!!

Our due date is November 25, 2011...also known as the day after Thanksgiving, "Black Friday" and the day before the BIG Auburn/Alabama game! We will keep everyone updated on the pregnancy and baby! At our next appointment, Friday, March 13, I will be 12 weeks...almost out of the first trimester! YAY!! I have had just about every pregnancy "symptom" that is possible! I have been pretty nauseated on a daily basis (and I mean all day), but thank God for Zofran (my nausea medicine)!! Chase has been so helpful and supportive during my pregnancy moods and sickness!

Our 8 week ultrasound pictures are below!!

Words can't express our excitement for this pregnancy! We continue to pray daily for a continued healthy pregnancy and baby. We appreciate everyone's prayers so much during this special time for our family! :)

Chase and Kim

Thanksgiving 2010

It's been a while since we've posted anything, but things have been SUPER busy...we will get to that later! As we normally do, we spent Thanksgiving with the Moore and Davis family. We are so lucky to have both of our families close by so that we can spend all of our Holiday's with everyone we love!! Most Davis Thanksgivings involve some kind of outdoor activities, this year shooting Tammy's new pink gun was top on the list!! Also me and Haley took a ride into the wilderness on the gator!!

Happy Fall Y'all!!!

Well it's that time of the year...the air is cooler and the leaves are changing colors!! We recently went to the Fall Festival in downtown Crestview with our friends Den and Lori and their two adorable kids, Bryce and Blake! We had a great time "people watching". There sure are some entertaining people out there!! We really enjoyed seeing everyone in their Halloween costumes and seeing all the puppies in their's also (pictures to follow). We didn't take our babies because we thought it would be too much of a hassle between three dogs, two kids, and a gazillion people! We were right! So, like I said we went with our friends Den and Lori and their two kids...here are their Halloween costumes! Bryce was "Jeter" from the Yankees and Blake was Superman!!! Here are a few pictures...

Then of course we had to dress up our puppies in Halloween costumes and get some cute pictures...Max was a "Doggie Pimp" and a "Police Pup", Molly was "Dogula" and a "Dog Fighter", and Ace was "Cam Newton"! We had fun dressing them up, not that they enjoyed it!

Then on Halloween night, Chase had been talking about wanting to scare the trick-or-treater's some how. We have a really big Oak Tree that has moss hanging from it in our front yard (that is a picture of it below), so Chase threw a rope over one of the limbs, hung the "Scream" mask and costume on a hanger and sat inside one of our guest bedrooms with the other end of the rope. As the trick-or-treater's came up to the house, I would hand out the candy and they would turn around and that Scream costume was hanging right in front of them. It scared most of the kids and some of the adults too!! There was this one little girl that was the highlight of the night. She came up and got her candy, turned around and saw that thing, screamed bloody murder, and ran to the middle of our yard and started crying! It was so hiliarious! We have laughed and laughed about that!! Her parents were standing at the street dying laughing too!! That one reaction was worth it all!!

We hope everyone had a Happy Halloween and has a Happy Thanksgiving! Talk to you soon!!

Love,

Chase and Kim
